OLWG #38- When Did You Abandon Your Dreams?

This week’s prompts are at the bottom. The work below is practice and practice makes perfect. This week’s practice became a drabble, inspired by my friend Ms. Rose. A word to the wise – don’t try to write a drabble if you’re pressed for time!

Here’s how to play along, if you are unsure.

I remember it well. It was January 1st 1967. That was the day I ran away from the ranch. I walked two miles to the highway, and left. I didn’t leave the gate open though.

After a week of hitching I arrived in San Francisco. I was out of cash; sleeping on the beach or in the park. The Be-In was there on the 14th. It was a 60’s thing.

There were thousands of hippies. I learned to “Turn on, tune in, and drop out,” I learned to, “question authority.”

I built new dreams that day.

I don’t miss Wyoming.

This weeks prompts are:

  1. I have extra suction cups
  2. a long black car
  3. ugh, did you see that

Go ahead and dive in, set your imagination free!
Write something
Ready, Set, Go – you have 25 minutes, but if that is not possible, take as long as you need.

Have fun

  1. And, you closed the gate. I mean, it’s one thing to run away, but at least your dad won’t be pissed you didn’t close the gate.

  2. I spent a number of years in my young life bemoaning the fact I was born just too late to be one of those hippies…. Thankfully, I’m over that now.. Excellent piece.
