OLWG #264- Scent

This week’s prompts are at the bottom. Feel free to seize the prompts, twist them, form them, play with them as you will. All comers are welcome. The words below are just practice for me. I had a lot of fun writing them, and you know what I always say, “Practice makes perfect.”

Here’s how to play along, if you are unsure.

When I first became aware of Chantal, I could only sense her. I knew she was near, because the cold powerful scent of her permeated the air.

It was almost a week before I knew she was back, and again, her scent gave her away. She smelled heady, fresh, feminine, and flowery. She smelled like summer with a hint of citrus. I caught a glimpse of her walking at the end of the hallway. Her hips swayed as she rounded the corner towards the reception, laughing with Kendra from HR. I picked up my pace but rounding the corner I knew she was gone. The aroma of gardenias at night lingered, so I took a seat on a visitor’s chair and soaked it all in. When the sweet smell faded, I spent the rest of the afternoon tracking down Kendra. I needed to know more. Kendra was nowhere to be found.

Before bed that evening I took stock of what I knew. She had long thick red hair; she smelled spicy-sweet, zesty, and luscious. I had never seen her face but I knew she was beautiful. That night, I lustfully dreamt of fresh-cut grass and coconut. My sleep was fitful, my arousal was desperate and complete.

The next morning at work, I staked out Kendra’s office and ambushed her.

“Who was that you were with yesterday? Was she here last week? Are you going to offer her a job? What is her name?” I asked all these questions before remembering the bag clutched tightly in my right hand. The bag contained two crème-filled chocolate doughnuts and an Americano from Dietrich’s. I held the bag out to her and she took it. A bribe if you will.

“Her name is Chantal.” Kendra told me, “She was here last week and I already made her an offer. She starts on Monday. She’ll be working in QA.”

I pumped my fist and began weaving my way back to my desk in Engineering.

This week’s prompts are:

  1. through a hole in the wall
  2. play something we can sing to
  3. addicted to greed

You can start writing whenever you want, just write, get the words down – and have fun!
